Chisen-style garden is one of the very familiar types of gardens since ancient times, and an island in the pond represents liar to the Japanese since ancient times, the islands represent God and Xian, those prayed for prosperity and longevity.
The crane and tortoise garden layout in the early Edo period still left is only two in the nation, here and Saiho-ji (Koke dera means moss temple). This is the oldest garden in Sanin and has been designated a scenic beauty in the prefecture.
It is said that Emperor Go-Daigo had visited before he was exiled to Oki Islands. You are able to take a tour inside of this garden. (Reservations required)
